Moroccan Mint is a type of Flavoured Gunpowder Green Tea. As its name suggests, the creation originates from Morocco - where it has since become a staple of the nation’s culture and society.

A common sight at gatherings and events, this delectable infusion is a true delight to the senses. When brewed, it offers an irresistibly grassy, minty taste with every sip.

Like any Green Tea, our Moroccan Mint has a modest amount of caffeine - around 30-mg per 8-oz cup. This makes it an excellent choice first thing in the morning.

What’s more, and perhaps more importantly, we pack it fresh to order here at our Kent-based factory, ensuring quality and consistency with every cuppa brewed. What more could you want from your new favourite beverage?

About Moroccan Mint Tea

Combining Gunpowder Green Tea (from Zhejiang, China) with the finest, most flavoursome peppermint tea leaves has great potential at the best of times. But it is in Morocco, North Africa, that such an infusion has become an integral part of everyday life.

Records suggest that it dates back to the 17th century. However, it remains just as popular now as it did hundreds of years ago.

Being offered a glass (or three!) of Moroccan Mint Tea signifies hospitality and affection. Before you can indulge, though, an almost ritualistic Tea preparation ceremony must take place. This begins with the host thoroughly rinsing an often ornate silver Tea pot with boiling water.

They then add the Tea leaves and mint (sometimes with sugar), allowing it to steep for a suitable length of time.

In the meantime, the host will ensure you’re comfortable, by which point the Moroccan Mint Tea is ready for serving. Carrying the Tea pot on a tray adorned with drinking glasses to the guest, they finally begin the most important stage. This next step requires impeccable precision as the host pours the infusion into the glasses from a height of at least 12 inches (approx 30cm).

Aside from showcasing outstanding skill and experience, this process should see a thin layer of foam on the surface of the Tea. If it doesn’t, however, then the host is expected to try again with a second batch!

But if everything goes to plan, then all that is left is to enjoy your Moroccan Mint Tea. Why not try it for yourself? Buy and brew with The Kent and Sussex Tea and Coffee Company!

Benefits of Moroccan Mint Tea

Amazingly, this beverage can afford protection against a variety of skin conditions, including acne, oiliness, swelling, sun damage and even ageing. This is according to a 2000 report published in the Journal of the American Medical Association of Dermatology.

The primary reason for this is its wealth in antioxidants - specifically polyphenolic catechins. Within this category is a subcategory, the most vital compound of that being Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG).

Research suggests that EGCG can combat free radicals in the body, the product of natural, though often harmful, human oxidation.

In doing this, Moroccan Mint Tea not only supports skin health, but also reduces the risk of developing a multitude of chronic conditions.
