Java Coffee

Java Coffee is a dark-roasted Gourmet Roast Coffee. It is one of the most popular varieties we stock, an infusion that never ceases to impress casual drinkers and connoisseurs alike. We create it with the latest state-of-the-art Neuhaus Neotec fluidised air-bed system, which primarily uses convection heat transfer to roast the beans. We then pack it fresh to order for you to buy Java Coffee online or in-store.

Where Does Java Coffee Come From?

Java Coffee originates from the Indonesian island of the same name. The plants were introduced by the Dutch in 1699. However, in the 1880s, a disease called Coffee Rust decimated crops, forcing farmers out of the lowlands and onto higher plateaus to continue cultivation. The move turned out to be a tremendous success because the high climatic conditions have since lent themselves to the Coffee’s unique flavour.

Java is now Indonesia’s largest Coffee producer. It is best known for Arabica Coffee Beans, which are often stored for two to three years to allow them to develop a fuller, richer taste. Other Coffee-growing areas in the country include Sulawesi, Flores, East Timor, Bali and Sumatra, with plantations covering an estimated 1.24 million hectares of Indonesia. 90% of beans come from smallholder farmers

Java Coffee’s Taste and Characteristics

Much happens from the moment workers harvest the Coffee Beans, usually between June and October, to the point that it is ready to brew. But when it does finally come to having a Java cup of Coffee, you can expect a distinct earthy character balanced perfectly between mellow and spicy notes. Such is its allure that regardless of whether you add milk or cream, you’re undoubtedly in for a treat.
